Mission

Maine Youth Creative Care (MYCC) strengthens the emotional and psychological wellbeing of young patients and their siblings.

We serve youth facing chronic illness, cancer, hospitalization, medical stress, and complex developmental needs—recognizing that illness affects minds and relationships as much as bodies.

Our work spans three interconnected pillars:

In-Home Creative Care for youth with special needs
Teen Cancer Care packages for teen patients and siblings
ArtRx digital arts engagement for hospitalized adolescents

Together, MYCC initiatives provide practical tools for self-reflection, agency, communication, and sibling connection—extending care beyond clinical settings and into everyday life.

Creative engagement supports coping, dignity, and self-advocacy. By placing arts and communication alongside medical treatment, MYCC helps young people navigate uncertainty with clarity and confidence. To explore partnerships or support MYCC’s work, please get in touch.

History

MYCC grew out of direct caregiving work with youth facing medical and developmental challenges. Through this work, clear gaps emerged: siblings often overlooked in cancer care, adolescents navigating treatment without emotionally responsive tools, and young patients lacking avenues for self-expression and communication. MYCC was created to address those gaps through accessible, creativity-based interventions.Looking ahead, MYCC envisions a healthcare landscape that is patient-driven, emotionally responsive, and inclusive of the arts as a core component of treatment—recognizing creative expression as essential to dignity, communication, and healing.
